Reversed phase separations - Separation of plasticizers - Excellent performance
Phthalate esters are plasticizers commonly used for making PVC softer and more flexible. The phthalates are, however, toxic and have been shown to cause liver, lung and kidney damage. Analysis of phthalates is therefore important in environmental analysis.
Nanosep Reversed Phase Nanoparticles were used for separation of three phthalate esters. The performance of the separation was superior to traditional HPLC in terms of resolution and efficiency. The highest separation efficiency obtained was above 1 million plates per meter, which is more than 10 times higher than for HPLC. The higher plate numbers results in improved peak capacity (the number of sample components that can be separated in one analysis) and lower detection limits.
High separation efficiency/peak capacity.
No column regeneration.
Large dynamic range (no overloading)
Separation of common plastizisers (a homologous series of dialkyl phthalates).
